Web Site CollaborationWe create clean, good-looking, fast loading, easy to navigate sites that exceed our client's requirements. Our web design process is an interactive one. First we listen to our customers and advise them how we believe their best interests will be served, then we produce an initial skeleton of the website. We upload this to a non-public web space where the client can literally watch it grow. We encourage feedback and make changes if required. The results of this collaboration are websites that fulfil their purposes and give their owners a true sense of involvement. We have never had a dissatisfied customer. Design Ethos
Web users are becoming increasingly suspicious and discriminating of anonymous and cynical websites. We believe it is imperative that your website and it's design truly reflects who you are and what you are about. Most businesses like to think that they provide something that is unique, 'the edge' they have that makes them preferable to their competition. We are driven by the same ethos. We create unique website designs for every client and we provide a second to none service and reliability. These are the sort of web sites we agree to make. There is a school of thought that believes design in websites is supplementary, something added to tart up otherwise flat content. We believe design is integral, part of the content and part of the message. In the same way as your clothes and hair-style reflect and communicate about your personality, the appearance of your website should reflect and emphasise the textural content within your pages. Making a good impression is hugely important and you don't have long to make it. Recent research (2006) by Dr. Gitte Lindgaard at Carleton University in Ontario has revealed that visitors can decide whether they like a web page in as little as 50 milliseconds! Lindgaard discovered that; "...the strong impact of the visual appeal of the site seemed to draw attention away from usability problems. This suggests that aesthetics, or visual appeal, factors may be detected first and that these could influence how users judge subsequent experience.... Hence, even if a website is highly usable and provides very useful information presented in a logical arrangement, this may fail to impress a user whose first impression of the site was negative." We had always been aware of the importance of first impressions in web design but didn't realise quite how fast that impression could be made. Services and Pricing
We don't host sites ourselves, frankly we'd rather spend our time being creative and we don't want to take money from our customers for services we don't actually provide, many do! We strongly recommend Xcalibre Communications Ltd who provide an excellent service at very fair prices. Our own pricing is also very competitive, we don't have the overheads of large design studios and our advertising budget is tiny. We don't have web design 'packages', preferring to quote a fixed price for each project. Our quotes are based on a daily rate of about £350 or £45 per hour. We work quickly and efficiently so a lot can be achieved in one day. Whatever you choose to spend on your website, we treat all projects with equal respect and they are always on budget and on time. We have never had an dissatisfied customer. If you think we can help you with your internet presence either complete our web quotation form or contact us. Search Engine OptimisationLogomotion strongly believes that websites should be optimised for human beings not for search engines. As it happens, the search engines' robots are actually programmed to look for the same things as people ... relevant content and functionality. We will advise you about your text and if necessary will edit or re-write it for you. Once we have finished your website we will register it with the top free search engines and The Open Directory Project (DMOZ) which is the largest human edited database in the world and is used by the biggest search engines. This is always part of our web design quotes. It can take between a few days to a few months for your site to be indexed and appear in the lists. The initial year of a new site can be frustrating for site owners, often it will appear high in the listings for a few weeks and then suddenly plummet into the ether. This is known as the 'sandbox' effect and is largely overcome by getting lots of relevant sites to link to the new site. The larger and more established those linking sites are, the more weight they have to influence the search engines, convincing them that your site has credibility. We are not SEO specialists but we will 'tweak' your pages to help increase your placement in the first few months. In most cases this is not necessary because we usually get it right first time. We can recommend SEO professionals who will provide a dedicated search engine optimisation service. There are also excellent commercial programs available for optimising search engine placement, we can manage such campaigns if you wish. We can also manage your website marketing, including pay-per-click campaigns which can dramatically increase your visitors and therefore profits but can also be very expensive. We can manage your on-site advertising, which will help your site pay for itself. |
Our Website PortfolioA selection of web sites we have designed over the last seven years. Click the screenshots or titles to go there. |
Axiom are gas boiler and central heating engineers serving greater London and Essex. We have designed their logo, stationery and website. They required a clean and bright website that clearly displays the central heating services they provide together with quotation and contact forms. |
A niche marketing website for properties and locations that have a sea view, anywhere in the world. Launched in September 2007, Sea Views Only enables advertisers to create and maintain their own advertisements including uploading photographs. Half owned and designed by Tim Heap of Logomotion, Sea Views Only is a database-driven site utilising the Joomla! content management system. |
Rubicon are an Oxford-based event management company specialising in the design, development and management of business events. We redesigned their website in 2007 to compliment their logo which we also revamped. |
A shopping site selling country wines, liqueurs, cider etc.. Logomotion originally built this site in 2000 and maintain it. We redesigned the site in September 2005 to match their printed brochure. The company has regular customers all over the UK and the site has become their main method for ordering, so freeing up staff time on the phone. The shopping cart used is the free version as supplied by Mal's-ecommerce. |
NEST make 100% natural household cleaning products. They required a low-cost shopping website with a clean and minimalist design to present their minimally packaged products. We made this site in July 2006 using the client's graphics and utilising a CSS 'frames-like' layout that keeps the header navigation in place whilst the page content scrolls beneath it, thus ensuring that the navigation is always visible. Again, we used the 'Mals-e' shopping cart for it's low cost and reliability. |
'Hierarchy is usually considered essential for all organizations, heterarchy and responsible autonomy are often misunderstood or neglected.' Triarchy Press is a new book publisher, founded by Gerard Fairtlough, with the aim of challenging the hegemony of hierarchy. Logomotion redesigned their site in 2006. The client required a reliable design company capable of responding swiftly to a rapidly developing site. |
| Climax are a regional supplier of windows, doors, conservatories, guttering and flat roof systems. Logomotion have redesigned every aspect of the Climax brand; logo, website, stationery, advertising and vehicles. The website is effectively an on-line brochure and as such provides the company with a cost effective and more easily updated alternative to a printed brochure. Our brief also included copywriting, admirally handled by Sidney Gibson. |
The project's objective is to encourage people to look after their trees and to build within the local community the necessary skills and knowledge to assist in the conservation of orchards. We built the website in 2004 and it has become a respected source of information. As with all Logomotion sites, the design is eye-catching and unique and at the same time user-friendly. |
In December 2005 we added a supplement to the Apple Project site. The supplement uses some recognisable design elements from the main site but because of it's distinct content we created a different, 3 column layout, enabling us to pack much more information into each page. |
Kate Mellors makes a range of stunning stoneware ceramics for the garden and conservatory. We originally made Kate's on-line brochure website in 2001 and have maintained it ever since. Logomotion redesigned it in 2005. Our intention was to create a site design that compliments the pottery, with a sympathic color scheme and a page layout that doesn't distract attention from the products. Clean and simple is a recurring Logomotion theme. |
Jon Adam is a renowned painter of gorgeous paintings. We were honoured to build his website. Even if you're not interested in our stuff, visit his website to checkout his wonderful paintings! Jon was keen to be involved in the site design from the outset and provided us with detailed layouts and preferences. We followed his instructions to the letter and his website is the result. |
Size doesn't matter to us, whether it's a big or small site we apply the same rigorous standards. We made this two page site for Doug Chalk who runs sightseeing and fishing boat trips in the 'prettiest boat in the harbour', Frances Jane, from Lyme Regis in Dorset. |
Broadlands bed and breakfast is a luxury self-contained B&B and has been awarded 4 diamonds by Visit Britain for 'excellent standard throughout'. The clients required a basic site that presents their accommodation's photographs and details clearly, enables easy enquiries and detailed instructions of how to get there. Designed in June 2006. |
